Popular Ballan stop listed as COVID-19 exposure site

A popular stop on the Western Freeway has been identified as an exposure site to a COVID-19 incursion.

The Mobil Ballan Westbound service station, a popular stop for Wimmera residents returning from Melbourne, has been named as a Tier 1 exposure site after it was visited by a removalist who later tested positive to the virus.

People who attended the service station at 6511 Western Freeway, Ballan, on Thursday July 8 between 5pm and 7pm have been asked to get tested and immediately quarantine for 14 days.

Anyone who has visited a Tier 1 exposure site during the times listed must immediately isolate, get a COVID-19 test, and quarantine for 14 days from the date of exposure. You should also contact the Department of Health at 1300 651 160.

Overnight figures show two new local cases, one case acquired interstate and no new cases acquired overseas. 14,384 vaccine doses were administered - 23,470 test results were received.

Two of the three local/interstate acquired cases were announced yesterday afternoon. The third is another member of their household who has been isolating throughout their infectious period.
