Sever Weather conditions for South West

Residents across the South West are warned that two cold fronts will hit the state - one today and one Friday.

Todays is set to bring with it damaging winds, averaging up to 60-70 ks per hour - with 90 kilometer per hour winds expected in the south west and along the coast.

Locations which may be affected include Hamilton, Warrnambool, and Portland.

Strong northerly winds developing, gusty cold change following later today

Damaging winds averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts to 100 km/h are expected to develop about elevated areas (above 800 metres) and coastal parts of Western Victoria on WEDNESDAY afternoon.

Damaging wind gusts to 90 km/h are also possible about remaining parts of the Southwest district WEDNESDAY afternoon near the front.

Gusts in these areas are more likely to be associated with showers or thunderstorms.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
