A new service helping deliveries this Christmas
Delivering Christmas parcels with Australia Post is set to be easier for Wimmera Mallee customers this Christmas, despite it being busier than ever.
Last year a total of 34-million parcels were delivered over the Christmas period and Australia Post expects to break that record this year.
In what is set to be its busiest Christmas period on record the company has introduced a new SMS notification service for parcel deliveries.
State Manager, David Allen, said the text messaging service will help make life easier for customers.
"If we have your contact details, we can actually text you when the postie will be coming past your house," he said.
"You can make a decision on whether you would like the item to be safe dropped, which means we can leave it somewhere safely if there's no one home.
"You can let us know if there is someone going to be home so we can knock on the door or you can also just let us know that there is no one home but we can take it to a local post office."
Trading hours will also be extended over the holiday period and you can check these on the Australia post website.
