A fire in Horsham’s Commercial Hotel was quickly brought under control.

The fire, believed to have started in the roof of the hotel’s kitchen, filled the CBD with smoke.

Horsham Fire Brigade contained the fire quickly.

A calisthenics competition, winding up in the adjacent Horsham Town Hall was unaffected by the fire.

“We had just finished on stage and it didn’t really impact us,” Horsham Calisthenics College’s Kylie Hermans said.

“It was a bit scary but everyone got out very quickly and the Town Hall staff were very helpful.”
