A brother and sister called emergency services fearing they had become lost in the Grampians yesterday morning before a search was called off half an hour later when the pair found their way back to the car park.

A 27-year-old Northcote woman and a 33-year-old Dunkeld man made the distress call just before 7am as the siblings became lost at the Fortress hiking trail.

Police search and rescue along with Dunkeld SES were ready to begin the search operation when they received the call that they were no longer lost.

In other police news two people remain in custody following an early morning break-in at the boarding house of The Hamilton and Alexandra College on North Boundary Road.

A man and woman both aged in their 20s were arrested after disturbing the director of boarding at around 5.30am.

Hamilton Police arrived a short time after being notified of the disturbance and located the would-be thieves about 6am.
