Plan to embed police in 'worst schools'
Matthew Guy wants police officers to visit schools again.
Mr Guy has announced a policy to reintroduce the “Police In Schools” program, which was discontinued 13 years ago.
The program aims to build a positive relationship between young people and the police.
The Police in Schools program is about building respect, mutual trust and helping all kids. That's why a Liberal National Govt will spend $50m to bring it back. pic.twitter.com/RRWSCP6SQa— Matthew Guy MP (@MatthewGuyMP) February 5, 2018
The opposition leader told Neil Mitchell the program would initially be implemented in ten “high-risk” schools.
“It’s about building respect between young Victorians and the police,” Mr Guy said.
“This is a strong, proactive way of dealing with crime before it becomes an issue.”
