Regional out of lockdown, however tight restrictions remain
A severe seven-day Victorian COVID-19 lockdown will end for regional Victorians from 11.59pm tomorrow and instead move to a new list of restrictions.
Strict conditions will continue in Melbourne until June 10 where there will be only minimal changes to restrictions.
The change means restrictions in the Wimmera-Mallee will continue but under a more relaxed set of guidelines.
Acting Premier James Merlino stressed the highly contagious level of a new strain of the virus in announced latest details in a press conference today.
He said the lockdown needed to continue in Melbourne but confirmed a different model for the regions.
“With no community transmission in regional Victoria this week, regional restrictions are proposed to begin easing from 11:59pm tomorrow night. We'll use the next 24 hours to continue tracing and testing and confirm that this change can go ahead,” he said.
