Highway closed at Servieton
At least one person has died after a collision on the Western Highway at Serviceton this morning.
Victoria Police said the accident happened on the Western Highway at Serviceton at about 2.20am Thursday morning.
Investigators have been told a truck crashed into the rear of a stationary truck then the truck which had been stationary crashed with a truck in front of it.
The trucks were waiting to cross the South Australian border after the South Australian Government closed the border due to a COVID-19 outbreak in Melbourne.
All three trucks then caught fire.
The driver of the first truck, a yet to be identified man, died at the scene.
Emergency crews are still on scene and an investigation into the incident has commenced.
The Western Highway at Serviceton remains closed.
A significant detour is required that adds up to 150 kilometres to the journey.
